The Importance of Giving Back

Being utterly solo on the road for two years post-grad serves the opportunity for growth, development, and agility.

With growth, it can be a tricky maneuver by yearning for the “old.” The comfort in practice, the easy ability to fall into old habits, the security of knowing what happened and what is to come. But without relinquishing control, you lose the beauty of newness. I used to miss the “old” me until I realized it stunted my abilities to be the person I am today.

Being part of an organization that values the individual while celebrating the joy of giving back allowed a safe space for me to flourish. St. Jude provided tremendous opportunities to feel joy and gain perspective. Research shows that honesty and integrity in times of change and uncertainty are the top two qualities an audience appreciates. I believe this is the foundation of providing something great, like curing childhood cancer.
